Special gift inherited by the local cinema industry

Tele Cinema Park could be considered as a special gift inherited by the local cinema industry. Foreign companies have also come forward to engage in shooting of movies at this location, Ministry of Mass Media and Information Secretary Dr. Charitha Herath said at the press briefing at the Cinnamon Grand hotel on Friday.

Shooting has commenced on the Indian movie Bombay Velvet starring Indian actors Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. The movie will be filmed at the Ranmihitenna Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele Cinema Park in Hambantota district – and it is the first foreign film to be made at the Tele Cinema Park.

Bombay Velvet movie director Anuradh Kashyap said at a media conference in Colombo that he was looking for a location for the movie for about nine years and finally found the perfect one right next door in Sri Lanka.

He said shooting will also be done in Colombo, Galle and Pasikuda.
