Mr. Charitha Herath, Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information addressing the ceremony held today to welcome the new year said that a massive development programme with great achievements has been implemented at present and that the Government Service is quite significant in this process. He pointed out that as the Ministry of Mass media and Information, which performs in close contact with the field of Media, the responsibility devolves on us is noteworthy. He further emphasized that Media which had been a critic of development has now become a constructive critic, a guide as well as a partner in development.
Further, while reviewing the progress achieved by the Ministry of Mass Media and Information in the previous year, the secretary stated that several new programmes are in schedule for this year. Establishment of the Broadcasting Development Authority, facilitating the digitalization process as well as to make structural changes in the Ministry and the institutions coming under its purview to suit the rapid technological transformations are among them.
The Secretary stated that he has complete faith in everyone who serves in the Ministry to act efficiently to fulfill these goals. He expressed his warm wishes to all to perform stronger in the new year.
