Mr. Charitha Herath, Secretary, Ministry of Mass Media and Information, who has been actively involved in the construction of the Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-cinama Park, Ranmihithenna since its beginning, yesterday (01st October) participated in an observatory visit in the Park with the objective of upgrading the existing facilities. Several officials from the Ministry participated in this tour and a discussion had been conducted with the officials of the Mahinda Rajapaksa National Tele-cinema Park regarding the future development plans of the Park.
The Secretary advised to further establish the fabricated backlots systematically to suit local and foreign cinema industry and to attract more and more local and foreign cinematographers.
It was the aspiration of Mahinda Chinthana to establish this Park for the benefit of artistes as well as the tele-cinema industry as a place to create high quality tele-cinema productions. Ministry of Mass Media and Information has constructed the Mahinda Rajapaksa NationalTele-cinema Park in realization of the goals of Mahinda Chinthana. This Park has been established in a 235 acre plot of land in Ranmihithenna a complete studio equipped with Digital technology, two halls to conduct workshops, accommodation facilities for the artistes, various backlots to suit cinema industry have been constructed under the first stage of the project. Likewise, villas have been constructed for the screenplay writers to engage in their work leisurely. In addition to that an administration unit to facilitate the artistes who use the Park and library facilities exists in this Park. Arrangements have been made for local and foreign tourists to visit this park.
